One of the protagonists of the last UFC event of 2020, Leon edwards is more than willing to shut down the commotion about Khamzat Shimaev, his December 19th opponent. Opponent of Dana White's new 'darling', the Englishman admits he has extra motivation for the confrontation, as, to win, he will need to interrupt the Swede's sequence of positive results. Thinking this way, Edwards sent a message directly to the 'big boss'.

“I know he (Dana) is rooting for the boy to win, but I will be a lot for him. I'm saying. They (UFC management) did this with other fighters too. The athletes achieved two good victories in their careers and the boy was thrown into the air and then they lost”, said the Englishman, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.
After the analysis, Leon spoke directly to Dana White, who has publicly admitted never having seen a fighter like Khamzat.
“Dana, I'm going to crush your boy. Can not wait. It will be a good night in December,” she concluded.
In addition to having the chance to defeat the biggest revelation of the year in Ultimate, a victory sounds like a matter of honor for Edwards. Without performing for over a year, the fighter had his third place in the rankings threatened due to inactivity. In 2020, Leon tried to get fights against athletes who would put him in a great position to face Kamaru Usman for the belt, but it didn't happen.
Close to leaving the top 15 of the group, Edwards then accepted the challenge of facing Chimaev, who is making his fourth appearance in less than six months. The Swede is undefeated in MMA with nine wins.
