In his farewell to MMA, Anderson Silva tried to return to the path of victory, but was defeated again, this time, by Uriah Hall and his fans accused the scam as much as he did. Despite going through the opposite phase, as he won both fights he fought in 2020, Robert whittaker, also a former middleweight champion (83,9kg), admitted to being a fan of 'Spider' and regretted the Brazilian legend's final stretch, as it does not match what he represents for the sport.

In an interview with the North American website MMA fighting, Whittaker believes that Anderson's bad phase was due to the fact that he did not know when to retire, he considered it a mistake that the veteran agreed to face Uriah Hall and assured that he will not prolong his career for so long.

“Of course I won’t fight for that long! In my opinion, it's crazy! Age comes to everyone. It doesn't matter how good you are. Anderson can no longer attack the way he did when he was younger, nor does he hit as hard anymore. At his peak, he was untouchable, unstoppable and that required the perfect balance of youth, physical attributes and talent. Talent is not lost and that is why he can still be competitive, but he is older and his physical attributes have dropped. When you face high-level fighters who are younger and hungrier, the results are not good. Hall is scary! Anderson fought an athlete who is at the peak of his physical abilities and is very talented,” said Whittaker.

The New Zealander hinted that he never faced Anderson because of the age difference between them (16 years) and, again, informed that, if he receives too much damage, he will retire.

“We never crossed paths, because there is a huge age difference. I'm young and I'm evolving. Anderson is getting older and falling. I don't know how to say this in a non-offensive way, but I have the utmost respect for him. Fighting is stressful. It is never easy for a fighter who is over 30 and approaching 40 to continue fighting. Every fight is complicated. I don't understand why they continue. I have limits and I will analyze how I feel, how my body reacts, but if I start to get knocked out frequently, I will stop. My health comes first and I will enjoy the time with my children”, he concluded.

Anderson Silva He fought until he was 45 years old and, in the last nine fights he fought, he was defeated seven times. The Brazilian legend's last victory occurred in 2017.
