Renan Barão will defend interim belt against Michael McDonald

Renan Barao will defend the interim bantamweight belt in early 2013. After Dominick Cruz, current champion of the category, suffered problems with knee ligament transplant, the Brazilian will be forced to defend the interim unification title.

This Wednesday (05), UFC president, Dana White, revealed that Barão will face Canadian Michael McDonald. The duel, however, does not yet have a date confirmed by the event. The information was given on the program 'UFC Tonight', which airs on FUEL TV, in the United States.

Renan, who has an MMA record of 29 victories and one defeat, has the longest sequence of victories among the organization's athletes: 29. In his last duel, the athlete from Rio de Janeiro defeated Urijah faber in a unanimous decision by the judges, at UFC 149, and won the interim bantamweight belt.
