Vitor Belfort: “Anderson Silva has the weapons to beat Jon Jones”

Vitor belfort already faced Anderson Silva, for the middleweight belt, and Jon Jones, for the light heavyweight title, so the Rio athlete knows the weapons of the fighters inside the Octagon like no one else. And for the “Phenomenon”, the “Spider” should forget about a possible duel in front of Georges St Pierre, champion of the welterweight category, and face Jones for the light heavyweight belt. According to Belfort, the Brazilian has the weapons to win the duel.

“Anderson against St. Pierre doesn’t make any sense. It would have made sense for Anderson to fight against Jon Jones. Anderson is a fighter on another level. Not belittling Jones, but valuing Anderson. He's one of the best that ever lived, I've always thought that. For me, it's really cool to see his success. I know what he went through. Anderson is at a very high level, and he should either defend his belt or fight for the top belt. I think Anderson has a greater chance of beating Jones. He would beat Jones standing up,” said Belfort, in an interview with the newspaper O Globo.

After being completed by Jon Jones at UFC 152, in September, Vitor returns to the octagon on January 19, at UFC on FX 7, also called UFC Sao Paulo, an event that marks the return of the organization in the capital of São Paulo. He has the main fight of the show against the Englishman Michael Bisping, where the winner will be well positioned for a shot at the middleweight title.
