Demian Maia accepts challenge made by Diego Sanchez to hold a fight between MMA legends

At 43 years old, Brazilian legend considers the duel against the North American veteran as an excellent opportunity to end his career with victory

Demian Maia knows he's close to saying goodbye to MMA. At 43 years old, the fighter is already planning the next step in his career and signaled that his next appearance in the Octagon should be his last in the sport. Knowing this, several fighters challenged the renowned Brazilian athlete, but one, in particular, is seen favorably: Diego Sanchez.

Also a veteran, the North American expressed his desire to hold a confrontation between legends and the idea was welcomed by Demian, who not only accepted, but also placed responsibility on the UFC, as he considers this meeting symbolic, as the possible opponent is also has weight in the organization.

Demian Maia, 43 years old, has a successful career in MMA. The jiu-jitsu specialist has been working in the UFC since 2007 and, despite not being the organization's champion, he fought for the welterweight (77,6kg) and middleweight (83,9kg) belts, something that rarely happens. His most notable victories were over household names such as Jon Fitch, Chael Sonnen, Jorge masvidal, Neil Magny, Carlos Condit, Ben Askren, Matt Brown, Dong Hyun Kim, Gunnar Nelson and Rick Story.
