Caio Monstro replaces injured Thiago Bodão at UFC São Paulo

the card of UFC Sao Paulo suffered its first casualty this weekend. The event, which is scheduled to take place on January 17th, at the Ginásio do Ibirapuera, in the capital of São Paulo, will not feature the São Paulo native Thiago Bodão on the show. The middleweight suffered an injury in training and will not face American Michael Kuiper. To take his place, the show's organizers acted quickly and called on the Ceará native Gaius Monster.

“It was good news. I was waiting, at any moment the UFC could call me to fight again. It came at a good time, because I was helping my training partners here in Ceará who had a fight scheduled, so now I'm just going to direct the training to Michael”, said Monstro in an interview with Sportv.

Caio, who has an MMA record of five wins and just one loss, will make his second appearance in Ultimate. In his debut, which took place at UFC on FX 3, in June, the Brazilian athlete was surpassed Buddy Roberts in the unanimous decision of the judges.
