In his last appearance, Thiago Marreta shocked the MMA community. The reason is simple: the Brazilian was one of the few to give a real fight to the feared Jon Jones, so much so that it was the only one that led the former light heavyweight (93kg) champion to a split decision victory. Despite the controversial defeat, the Rio native wants to meet again in the future.

At the pre-UFC Las Vegas 13, an event that will be held this Saturday (7), in the USA, Marreta recalled the battle against Jones, he is proud of his performance, as he performed with injured knees, but, to obtain the long-awaited rematch, he knows that the first step is to go through Glover Teixeira.

“I wasn’t disappointed with Jones leaving, but I want to fight him again. We'll do that, but first I have to beat Glover and the light heavyweight champion. That's my goal. Then I think about the rematch with Jones. It was a great fight. I hurt my knees, but I survived and continued fighting for five rounds against Jones. I feel proud”, said Marreta.

Currently, Thiago Marreta, 36 years old, is in first place in the light heavyweight rankings, just below the champion, Jan Blachowicz. The Brazilian fought for the category belt in 2019, was defeated by Jon Jones and remains highly rated for another chance. It's worth remembering that the Rio native has already knocked out the current number one in the division.
