The time has come. This Saturday (7), at UFC Las Vegas 13, Thiago Marreta e Glover Teixeira to stage a confrontation that promises to shake up the spirits of Brazilians. Aware of the great challenge of facing the Minas Gerais native, Marreta, who returns to the octagon a year after overcoming injuries to both knees, analyzed the clash against his compatriot.

“Glover is a very experienced guy. He's had a lot of fights, he's been through everything in the octagon. I think he will use his experience, try to find gaps, see where the best scenario is for him to fight, whether standing up or on the ground. I think the fight will be very interesting. It won't just be standing up, but it also doesn't mean that Glover will start the fight trying to put me down. I think he will feel the fight, he will feel where is best for him”, said Thiago, in an interview with 'Combate'.
Current number one in the category's ranking, Thiago will step up to the octagon in an attempt to regain his status as a title challenger. In his last performance, the Brazilian came very close to winning the title, when he faced Jon Jones, UFC 239, in July last year.
Just like Marreta, Glover also wants another chance to compete for the title. At 41 years old, the veteran fought for the belt in 2014, when he was also surpassed by Jones. More than six years later, and still at a high level, the Minas Gerais native wants to make history in the category, establishing his name as one of the champions.
The confrontation between Thiago and Teixeira, a few months ago, was considered an elimination fight to define the next challenger for the light heavyweight belt (under 93kg). History, however, can be changed with the possible increase in Israel adesanya for the group. UFC President, Dana White admitted to negotiating the superfight, which could postpone Marreta and Glover's dream of fighting for the belt in the near future.
