The controversial statements of Colby covington made him the target of yet another athlete: Santiago Ponzinibbio. The Argentine, who trains at ATT, didn't like seeing the bad boy attacking other members of the gym, like Jorge masvidal, Dustin poirier e Joanna Jedrzejczyk, and this intrigue culminated in the athlete’s departure.

In an interview with the North American website MMA Junkie, Santiago celebrated the fact that Covington was no longer a member of the American Top Team, as the atmosphere became heavy and revealed that, despite not having fallen out with 'Chaos', he would love to face him, as he wants to return to the top-15 of the welterweight (77,6kg) and considers him one of the best in the category.

“Covington had to leave ATT after the role he began to play. He brought a bad energy. It was a stupid move on his part and that was good for ATT. We are better off without him. We were never friends. I trained with him a few times, because our coach was the same (Mike Brown), but we never became friends. It was always work. That's it and nothing more. I have nothing against Covington. He's a great fighter, one of the best in the division and it's a fight that interests me. This is a good fight for me and I think I would win by knockout,” said Santiago.

Santiago Ponzinibbio, 34, was last seen in action in November 2018, when he knocked out Neil Magny. Since then, the Argentine has suffered numerous injuries, undergone some surgeries and had Covid-19. Free, 'Gente Boa' wants to make up for lost time and continue their streak of seven consecutive victories.
