The rivalry between Jon Jones e Chael Sonnen added another chapter this Friday (23). Used to hearing his opponent's provocations, this time it was Jones who went on the attack. In an interview with the North American website MMA Junkie, Jon, who will put the light heavyweight belt on the line against Chael on April 27, 2013, stated that his opponent does not deserve the right to challenge him.
“Everyone sees that Chael definitely doesn’t deserve to fight me. At the same time, a lot of people have said – 'why not be the guy to shut him up once and for all? Why not be the guy to make his words irrelevant, once and for all? That’s what I’m going to try to do”, promised the champion.
Jones also made a point of emphasizing that he will not be intimidated by Sonnen's provocations during and after the recordings of TUF 17, the UFC reality show, in which the fighters are rival coaches.
“I'm doing what most people wouldn't dare, facing this guy's main gift, every day, for six weeks. Most people want to have Chael on their side, he can be intimidating when it comes to insults to sell fights. But I'm doing what most people think is crazy, being around him every day and listening to what he has,” added Jones.
