Condit disregards interim title, but says he is ready to take GSP's belt

The welterweight Carlos Condit will have a tough task at UFC 154, an event that takes place next Saturday (17), in Montreal, Canada. The North American, who holds the interim belt in the category, will try to unify the division titles against the Canadian Georges St Pierre. Condit made a point of highlighting that he considers his rival as champion and does not take his interim belt into account.

“I see my opponent as the champion, he is one of the most dominant guys in the division, and I respect him as such. I want to be in big fights, and this is one of them. That made all the difference in my decision to fight him. It’s an honor to do this fight, but he’s where I want to be, and I want to take what he has and take his place,” said Condit, at the press conference leading up to UFC 154.

However, despite the praise, Condit assured that he is better prepared at this moment than he was in 2011, when the duel would initially take place, but like St. Pierre he suffered a serious knee injury and was left out of the confrontation.

PUBLICITY:

“I would say that my chances today are much greater than in 2011. I worked on my skills and my game to be competitive against George St-Pierre. I think today I’m much better than in 2011,” he said. “Georges is one of the best fighters in the world when he lands takedowns. I think I'm a complete fighter, and competitive in every aspect of the fight. I want to make my game plan to try to win”, added Condit.
