After challenging Shevchenko, Jéssica Bate-Estaca evaluates a possible fight against the champion

After a convincing debut in the flyweight division at UFC Ilha da Luta 6, the Brazilian claims that her qualities could make the Kyrgyzstan's game difficult

After running over Katlyn chookagian in her debut at flyweight (up to 56,7kg.) and challenge the champion Valentina Shevchenko, Jessica Andrade I couldn't be more confident. At the press conference held after UFC Ilha da Luta 6, promoted this Saturday (17), in Abu Dhabi, the woman from Paraná stated that she was capable of shocking the world and dethroning the Kyrgyzstani, leader of the group since 2018.

“I believe that in this category (flyweight) I can make a difference and stand up to Valentina. It's a desire I've always had. Not only here within the organization, but outside, we were supposed to have fought. That stuck with me. So, I hope I have this opportunity to fight Valentina and I will definitely make a big difference. In this category, I’m still going to put on a lot of show,” she said.

This weekend, in addition to surprising with a confident and forceful performance against Chookagian, Andrade made history by becoming the first woman to test herself in three different weight categories. Former strawweight champion (up to 52,1kg) in the company, Andrade should now take first place in the ranking led by Shevchenko.

Although she is on the Paraná native's radar, Valentina has an appointment with the company. The fighter will defend her fourth belt against the Brazilian Jennifer maia, on November 21, at UFC 255.

Shevchenko has not played since her clash against Chookagian herself, in February this year. On that occasion, the Kyrgyzstani beat the North American with a knockout in the third round and, once again, secured her place on the throne.
