Even without putting on a show, Brian ortega gave technique classes in fighting against Chan sung jung, or 'Korean zombie', in the main fight of UFC Ilha da Luta 6, held this Saturday (17), in Abu Dhabi. With a confident and dominant performance, the North American won the unanimous decision of the judges and got closer to another title fight in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg).

Current number two in the category ranking, Ortega practically booked his ticket to face the current champion, Alexander Volkanovsky. Before the duel, the organization's president, Dana White, had confirmed that the winner of the duel would face the Australian.
The clash against the 'Korean zombie' marked Brian's return to the octagon after more than a year away from the sport. His last commitment had been in a title fight, in December 2018, when he ended up losing to the then champion, Max Holloway.
Brian's triumph ends Jung's good run, who had two major knockouts in his career. In the South Korean's last performance, the athlete surpassed the veteran Frankie Edgar, ending the confrontation in the first round.
The fight
The confrontation began with the athletes studying each other in the center of the Octagon. Ortega tried to find the best distance, while Jung surrounded his rival. The North American started to score with jabs and kicks and the South Korean responded in kind. Halfway through the round, Brian surprised his opponent with a clean cross to the face, but the 'Korean zombie' did not accuse the coup. The fight remained tense and the combatants were careful not to make a fatal mistake. Near the final minute, Sung tried a kick from the belt, but his leg was caught and he suffered a hard counterattack from Ortega, which took the South Korean to the ground. Jung got up and the athletes exchanged attacks until the timer ran to zero.
In the second stage, the 'Korean zombie' began pressing Brian against the bars and attacking his head and torso. The North American responded in kind and then tried, unsuccessfully, to apply a takedown to his opponent. Jung tried to close the distance and continued to surround Ortega, but the American showed a lot of concentration and absorbed his opponent's actions well. In the final seconds, Ortega dodged an attack from 'Korean zombie' and managed to take down his opponent with a beautiful spinning elbow. Sung, however, showed a lot of courage, managed to get up and continued in the confrontation. Brian tried to take advantage of the good moment, he continued striking, but there was no more time.
Brian landed the first blow in the third round. With a jab, followed by two low kicks, the American continued to have the advantage and score against his opponent. After almost three minutes, Jung risked a series of punches and forced Brian to walk backwards. The North American, however, was dangerous in counterattacks and remained superior. Near the end, Ortega connected with a straight left, which shook the 'Korean zombie', but the stage is over.
The fourth round began with the South Korean trying to recover from the loss. Walking forward, the athlete tried to surprise the North American, but Brian remained focused and determined not to make a mistake. Always confident in his attacks, Brian returned a straight shot, which exploded in his opponent's face, but Jung remained unfazed. After two minutes, the referee stopped the duel to assess a cut on Chan's eyebrow. The confrontation returned with the fighters exchanging punches in the center of the octagon. As time went by, Brian continued to impress with his refined striking technique, leaving no room for his opponent's attacks. In the final seconds, the athletes began a frank exchange, but there was no more time.
Ortega once again took the initiative in the confrontation in the last round. With a low kick, the North American scored and continued to follow the fight plan to the letter. Brian started to scare again with a series of punches, but Jung didn't give up and continued walking forward. Brian's blows landed cleanly on the man's face.Korean zombie' and the combatant did not surrender. With almost 25 minutes of fight, Brian was still moving a lot, showing great physical shape. Close to the final minute, the North American started to play safety, hitting and leaving, to avoid a surprise. Almost at the end of the duel, the 'Korean zombie' needed to go all or nothing, but he didn't have time to try for a knockout or submission.
