Considered one of the main Brazilian representatives in the history of UFC heavyweights, Cigano is going through a turbulent time in his career. In their last five appearances, the Santa Catarina team only achieved two positive results and faces a sequence of three setbacks.
Júnior last played in August, at UFC 252. On that occasion, the former champion faced the dangerous Jairzinho Rozenstruik and ended up becoming another victim of the Surinamese's powerful hands. The athlete ended up being knocked out in the second round.
Seeking his fourth fight with the company's gloves, Cyryl Gane should perform at UFC Ilha da Luta 6, which takes place this Saturday (17). The Frenchman would face Before Delija, who would make his debut. The Croatian, however, ended up leaving the show due to contractual problems.
While Júnior boasts an extensive record, with 29 appearances, 21 triumphs and eight setbacks, Gane is at the beginning of his career in MMA. The Frenchman, today, has six commitments and has never felt the taste of defeat.
Cigano, 36 years old, is currently number seven in the division rankings. Ciryl, 30, in turn, occupies 13th and a victory over the Santa Catarina native could propel him to the top of the group led by Stipe Miocic.
