The North Americans Stephan bonnar and Dave Herman learned this Tuesday (06) of the suspension imposed by Ultimate after being caught in the anti-doping test at UFC Rio 3, an event held on October 13th, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
Bonnar, who was knocked out by Anderson Silva in the main fight of the show, he was caught using the anabolic steroid Drostanolone and received a one-year suspension. However, Stephan announced last week that he is retiring from the sport and is not expected to return to the Octagon. Herman, who had traces of marijuana in his exam, will have to undergo drug treatment and will have a smaller hook.
“We are very convinced that there is a difference between performance-enhancing drugs and street drugs like marijuana,” said Marc Ratner, UFC vice president of regulatory affairs, in an interview with the website MMA Junkie
