As it could not be otherwise, the fight between Israel adesanya e Paulo borrachinha, held at UFC 253, in Abu Dhabi, continues to resonate, however, this time, in a different way. If before much was said about the trash talk, the fight itself and the 'sarrada' controversy, now, an important piece of advice was given and it came, precisely, from the middleweight champion (83,9kg).

In an interview with the website MMA fighting, Adesanya thinks he will hardly fight his rival again and believes that the Brazilian has to forget what happened on September 26th for the good of his career. The Nigerian went further, citing himself as an example, and remembering that, in doing so, he turned combat sports around.

“I honestly don’t think I’ll ever see him again. I am for Paulo as McGregor is for Aldo. He has to forget. I embarrassed him. Paulo has to accept and realize that he talked a lot, made money and paid the price. It happened and it's over. That's my advice to him, because that's what I did. I never tried to avenge my defeats. I managed to win some rematches, but they happened naturally. It was my chance at redemption and I'm fine now. Paulo has to be fine and move forward,” said Adesanya.

'The Last Stylebender' elaborated further on what happened in his career, citing the defeats he suffered against Alex Pereira, in kickboxing, and, if Borrachinha manages to recover, he does not rule out facing him in the future.

“I was already knocked out by one of your compatriots (Alex Pereira) and it's funny to see the guy who knocked me out, challenging me. Who is really winning? Do you know the reason? Because I don't chase defeats. What happened taught me a valuable lesson to stay true to myself, my craft, and to not listen to what others say. I'm grateful for what happened. I don't seek revenge. It happened and was in the past. Even if I knock him out, if he gets signed by the UFC, that will never erase what happened. We have to accept it and move on. This is the advice I give to Paulo. He will never get that fight back. If by some miracle he manages to climb the rankings, we can fight again,” he concluded.

Israel adesanya fought against Paulo borrachinha No. UFC 253 and won by knockout in the second round. This was the middleweight champion's second title defense. Previously, he won the title by knocking out Robert whittaker, in 2019, and defended it for the first time against Yoel romero, in March 2020.
