UFC Fight Island 5 sensation Joaquin Buckley comments on the knockout that shocked fans and Dana White

Joaquin buckley was part of the preliminary card of the UFC Fight Island 5, but he certainly made history by delivering one of the most incredible knockouts seen in MMA. At the event held on Saturday (10), in Abu Dhabi, the North American shocked the world by hitting a shot of rare happiness on Impa Kasanganay and the move made the athlete steal all the spotlight.

At the post-show press conference, 'New Mansa' commented and explained the unusual coup, in addition to being thrilled with the fact that he had received one of the event's performance bonuses and was congratulated by Dana White himself.

“It’s surreal! I still don't know what I'll do with the money. I was conscious. Impa had already caught my kick once and the second time I thought “why not?”. When I threw it, I didn't know I had knocked him out until I saw his body falling. It was the end! I call it Wakanda style,” said an excited Buckley.

The 83,9-year-old middleweight (26kg) also showed personality when talking about his mentality, ensuring that he has a wide repertoire and intends to return to fight soon.

“Many people don’t understand anything about fighting and end up following the most popular athletes. I am flying below the radar and will continue to do so. One kick can change a fighter's career, but I still have more to show. I always give my all in a fight. I want to be in exciting fights. It doesn't matter if I win, lose or draw, I just don't want to go to the decision. It's kill or be killed! Either I take my opponent's head off or he takes mine off. I want to fight again as soon as possible”, he concluded.

It is worth remembering that this was the first victory of Joaquin buckley in the UFC. Previously, the athlete had been defeated in his debut by Kevin holland, in August 2020, in a fight that he took on at the last minute.
