The fight

The fight started with Barboza taking the initiative with a low kick. The Finn saved his strikes and took care not to be surprised. Edson continued trying to find the distance, but was careful not to be surprised by his opponent's takedown attempt. The Brazilian continued to bet on kicks and Amirkhani just watched his opponent. After almost four minutes, Makwan finally tried to take down the Friborg native, but Barboza defended himself well. In the final seconds, Edson connected with a direct shot, which hit the Finn's face cleanly, but Amirkhani then managed to take down his opponent, but there was no more time.

In the second stage, the confrontation became busier. Early on, Edson threw a cross, which was promptly responded to by his opponent. Halfway through the round, Barboza connected with a straight shot to the Finn's face, who fell to the ground. The Friborg native went forward, attempted a submission, but allowed his opponent to get up. At a disadvantage, Makwan tried to take down the Brazilian, but Edson remained focused and defended himself well. In the final seconds, Barboza once again knocked his rival down with a punch and again tried to finish, but the Finn didn't give up and resisted well. At the end of the assault, Amirkhai managed to reverse the position, but the assault was over.

Seeking to recover from the loss, Makwan arrived for the last round ready to take Barboza to the ground. The Finn insisted, took down, but Edson showed great calmness to prevent his opponent's transitions. From below, the Brazilian stuck to his rival and did not allow Amirkhani to advance in his attacks. After little action, the referee asked for the match to be played standing up. In the final minute, Barboza connected with a cross, which almost knocked the Finn off balance. Almost at the end, Edson once again took down his opponent with a straight shot. The Brazilian tried for the knockout, however, the clock was running out.
