The stage for Anderson's possible goodbye, Las Vegas was the scene of great achievements and also the biggest defeat in the Brazilian's Ultimate career.
It was there that the 45-year-old from São Paulo won the middleweight title, in October 2006, in the iconic fight against Rich Franklin. On that occasion, the Brazilian left the world open-mouthed with a devastating knockout over the then champion.
Las Vegas was also present in Silva's life when the athlete lost his position as division champion, in 2013, at the fateful UFC 162. In the fight, Anderson was trying to defend his 11th title, but ended up surprised by an undefeated Chris Weidman.
The last time 'Spider' stepped into an octagon set up in Nevada (USA) was in July 2016, at UFC 200. At that time, Silva, with two days' notice, agreed to move up a division and replace Jon Jones in the fight against Daniel Cormier, among the light heavyweights (up to 93kg.).
Now, once again, Vegas enters Brazilian history, as the stage that can celebrate one of the most victorious passages of an athlete with the Ultimate gloves.
