UFC fires heavyweight sentenced to 22 months in prison in Australia

Company takes advantage of the situation involving Ben Sosoli and chooses to break the fighter's contract; athlete leaves the organization without victories

The bombshell involving heavyweight Ben Sosoli, who was recently sentenced to 22 months in prison after attacking a man in a bar, in Melbourne, Australia, while working as a security guard, he ended up reflecting on his UFC career. After the trial, the company chose to sever relations with the athlete, who is now no longer part of the fighting team. The information was released by MMA Fighting.

With the decision, Sosoli leaves Ultimate without having won a single victory. Making his official debut for the company in October last year, the Australian had two appearances, losing one and having one fight without result.

Ben arrived in the UFC after his participation in 'Dana White's Contender Series', in August 2019. In his last fight, the fighter was knocked out by the Brazilian Marcos Foot.

Other layoffs

In addition to Sosoli, the Ultimate boat also passed to two more athletes. Also Australian Nadia Kassem was released by the company after two consecutive defeats in three fights.

Known as 'The Tarantula', Dequan Townsend was also unable to escape the cut. The North American couldn't resist four consecutive defeats and leaves the company without having won any victories.
