John Macapá from Amapá returned well to MMA competitions. After participating in TUF Brasil, when he was eliminated by Rodrigo Damm, in a controversial decision, and lost to Hugo Wolverine at UFC 147, the athlete from the north of the country made peace with victory. In action at Shooto Brasil 35, an event at the Hebraica gymnasium, in Laranjeiras, Rio de Janeiro, Macapá defeated Rafael Macedo at the end of the first round due to medical interruption.
Macapá's duel against Rafael was quite busy. Macedo even managed to land a guillotine in the first moves, but the blow was well defended by John.
After recovering from the scare, Macapá went to end the fight. The former TUF man came close to knocking out his opponent, but Macedo managed to continue the duel, despite several injuries to his face. However, at the end of the first round, doctors prevented Rafael from returning to the duel, and a technical knockout was declared.
