One of the main names in the light heavyweight category (up to 93kg.), Thiago Marreta recognized the great feat of Jan Blachowicz No. UFC 253, held last Saturday (26), in Abu Dhabi. The Pole had a great performance against Dominick reyes and won the vacant division title. The Brazilian then congratulated the fighter and sent a direct message.

Current number two in the ranking, Marreta has a tough commitment against his compatriot Glover Teixeira, on November 7th. The athletes will exchange forces in the confrontation that will define the next challenger for the division title.
right after the UFC 253, Blachowicz, in a press conference, made it clear that his desire was to face the former champion of the category, Jon Jones, in his first title defense. As 'Bones' desire is to play among the heavyweights (up to 120,2kg) - which is why he gave up his position as division leader in August -, the Pole confirmed that Thiago is, in fact, a potential opponent. .
Having not played since the clash against Jones, in July last year, and having recovered from surgery on both knees, Marreta has the advantage of having already faced and defeated Blachowicz in the past. In 2019, the Brazilian overpowered the Pole with a brutal knockout in the third round.
If Thiago beats Glover and qualifies for a title fight, the meeting would mark a rematch between the combatants.
