In addition to losing the chance to win the vacant light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg.), in UFC 253, Dominick reyes will bear a mark from the confrontation against Jan Blachowicz for a few days. This Saturday (26), on 'Ilha da Luta', in Abu Dhabi, the North American ended up falling victim to the Pole's brute strength and left the octagon with an impressive injury to his ribs caused by his rival's well-aimed kicks.

Considered favorite in the clash, Reyes was unable to repeat the good performances that put him in a position to compete for the vacant title in the category. Against Blachowicz, the American did not set his pace and succumbed with a knockout in the second round.
The mark left by Jan was the result of several kicks to the belt, which began to change the history of the confrontation. With sharp striking, the Pole was able to nullify the North American's game and sealed the athlete's second consecutive defeat in the organization.
With Blachowicz's triumph, he now begins a new era in the category that, for years, was dominated by Jon Jones. The division had been without a champion since August, when 'Bones' made his move to heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) official and gave up the title.
The victory over Reyes marked the 27th positive result in the Pole's career. Now, the new division leader has eight knockouts, nine submissions and 10 judges' decision wins.
