Israel Adesanya shows humility when praising Anderson Silva and denies comparisons: 'He is unique in MMA'

The middleweight champion is not fooled by his success and wants to focus on his own legacy, without thinking about the Brazilian's achievements

It is not new that the success of Israel adesanya, in MMA, makes fans and the press see similarities and compare him with Anderson Silva. However, the UFC middleweight champion (83,9kg) is not taking this any further, despite admitting to being a fan of the Brazilian legend.

“Anderson defended the middleweight belt for a long time and put on a show at light heavyweight (93kg) in some fights. My goal is not to repeat Anderson's achievements. There will not be another Anderson. It's not about quantity but about quality. This is my 100th victory in combat sports. I’ve been doing this for a long time and I’m not looking at Anderson’s legacy but mine,” said Adesanya at the post-event press conference.

Even with the organization's title and a target on his back, the Nigerian highlighted the importance of keeping his feet on the ground and explained that the most important thing for him is to test himself against the best athletes and beat them.
