Maldonado: “Glover won’t fight for the belt against Jon Jones because I’m going to beat him”

Glover Teixeira was scheduled to face Quinton Rampage Jackson in the second most important fight of UFC Rio 3, but as the former light heavyweight champion suffered an injury during his training Fábio Maldonado promptly offered to replace the North American and face his compatriot.

When asked about his rival's favoritism, Maldonado said that his fight against Glover will be his best performance within the organization.

“I know there is a lot of difference between my name and that of the Quinton Rampage Jackson, but I'll do my best. I'm going to have a great fight and I don't want to disappoint, but on Saturday it will be the best Fábio Maldonado who has ever been in the UFC,” said Maldonado. The Team Nogueira fighter also said that Glover just won't face Jon Jones, for the light heavyweight belt, because he will win it next Saturday.
