Outside of UFC Rio 3, Aldo wants to face Edgar by January 2013

The featherweight José Aldo was scheduled to take part in the main fight of UFC Rio 3, an event that takes place next Saturday (13), in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. But a motorcycle crash prevented the featherweight champion from defending his belt against the American Frankie Edgar.

From outside the event, the Brazilian followed the show's Open Training, but did not hide his upset at not entering the octagon that will be set up at the HSBC Arena.

“I really wanted to fight here, but it wasn't this time. I'm very upset, I wanted to fight this Saturday in front of the fans”, said the champion.

Aldo also stated that he intends to return to competitions by January 2013 and hopes that his opponent will be Frankie Edgar, former lightweight champion who would make his featherweight debut against the Brazilian.

“The struggle with Frankie Edgar It will happen, I hope in January at the latest. It would be even better if it could be in Brazil. I really want this fight and I’m sure it will happen”, he added.
