Despite being a relatively new sport, MMA has notable rivalries and one that is gaining more and more strength is the one between UFC and Bellator. It is known that the two largest organizations are competitors, but the relationship has always been good, or at least it was. And the friction between the parties happened on the initiative of their respective presidents.

In August, Scott Coker stated that Bellator has the best light heavyweight division (93kg) in MMA and this fact angered Dana White. The UFC president laughed when he heard about the position, going so far as to say that this was the stupidest thing he had ever heard and that the fighters who stand out there were of no interest to the UFC. After editions numbered 245 and 246 were carried out, on September 11th and 12th, Coker, once again, touched on the subject.

“Bellator has the best light heavyweight division on the planet, without a doubt. We have Davis, Lyoto, Nemkov. I think Mousasi will fight too. He told me he wants to change categories. This division is strong and full of good fighters”, assured Coker.

Recalling Dana's belittling, Coker accused him of lying and defended his athletes.

“Bader, Davis and any of the athletes who left the UFC got here on their own. They were not expelled. That's a lie! The truth is that they were free agents, they wanted to be valued and Bellator offered better contracts. These athletes are proud. They have a high level and don't fight just to have fun. If Bellator's proposal is better, why not come here? If the UFC's is better, just stay there. As for being expelled, that’s a lie”, he concluded.

This is another recent chapter in the war between the companies and the tendency is for it not to stop there. Both are competing to sign the star, Brock Lesnar, former heavyweight champion (120,2kg), the UFC wants to sign Michael chandler, former lightweight champion (70,3kg) and Bellator icon, and the same Bellator took Corey anderson, top-5 light heavyweight (93kg), who still had a contract with the UFC.
