One step away from the belt, Lyoto Machida tries to overcome Phil Davis at Bellator 245, this Friday

At 42, Lyoto Machida is close to a new title fight in his career. This Friday (11), in Uncasville (USA), at Bellator 245, the Brazilian will face, Phil Davis, an old acquaintance in the confrontation that will guarantee the next challenger for the organization's light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg.). In total, the card will promote six clashes, which will feature the debut of Zingano cat e Raphael Carvalho trying to recover in the company.

Bellator's representative since 2018, the former UFC champion will be committed to overcoming the American, by whom he was defeated in 2013, when both were still wearing Ultimate gloves. Seven years have passed since the first meeting between Lyoto Machida e Phil Davis. The gloves are different, but the athletes continue to perform at a high level and with big dreams in their careers.

In 2013, Phil emerged victorious against Machida. The Brazilian will now have the opportunity to prove that he can overcome the North American and, thus, reach another title fight in his career.

His last defeat happened precisely to the current champion of the division, in 2018, when the Russian was still building his path towards the title.

Zingano x Gabrielle Holloway

With opponents like Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate e Amanda nunes on your resume, Zingano cat will have an opponent without much expression for her Bellator debut. Hired to work in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg), led by the feared Chris Cyborg, the North American wants to debut with the right foot to get closer to a title fight.

Without fighting since December 2018, when she was defeated by Megan anderson, for the UFC, Cat signed with Bellator at the end of last year. At 38 years old, the American is going for her 15th fight in her career and begins her journey towards a title fight for one of the biggest MMA companies in the world.

A professional in MMA since 2012, Gabrielle Holloway, to date, has a modest record. There are 11 fights, with six wins and five losses. The athlete is coming off a victory over Alexis Dufresne and has not performed since 2017.

Carvalho x Polizzi

Former company middleweight champion, Raphael Carvalho wants to meet again. Coming from three defeats in the last five fights, the Rio native will face the undefeated Alex Polizzi, who makes his debut in the organization against a big name.

Carvalho has not fought since October 2019, when he was defeated by the current light heavyweight champion, Vadim nemkov. Now, the athlete wants to prove that he still has what it takes to dream big in the organization.

Former LFA, Alex comes for his second appearance in 2020. The fighter fought in February, when he submitted Jamal Pogues.
