With just over two weeks to go before one of the most anticipated clashes in recent years, the confidence of Paulo borrachinha only increases for the confrontation against Israel adesanya, on September 26th. Protagonist of UFC 253, together with the middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg.), the Brazilian once again stated that a massacre will be seen on 'Ilha da Luta' and assures fans that he will become the new champion of the division. In a press conference held last Thursday night (10), with the participation of SUPER FIGHTS, the miner commented on the confrontation.

Concern about judges

As a title challenger, the Brazilian was asked if there is concern that the result of the fight will favor the champion, if the confrontation lasts 25 minutes. In response, Borrachinha was categorical and explained that there should be no room for error against Israel.

“I think that, to win the fight, you really have to do more. I support this idea. I think that to fight and win, there can be no doubt. You have to destroy the opponent, crush him. You can't complain later if the fight was similar. I'm not going to win a little bit. I'm not going to win by an advantage. I'm training to destroy Adesanya, leave him stretched, out. I’m not going to do five rounds”, he said.

Adesanya's taunts

Borrachinha and Adesanya have been at war for over a year. The provocations between the two have created an atmosphere of great rivalry, which only increases expectations for the duel. The Brazilian then spoke about what he thinks of the words said by the Nigerian and whether the actions affect him.

“It’s professionalism. I'm going to beat him no matter what. We will fight for the title. I see that this title already belongs to me. I have to go there to dominate him and erase him. I have to fight so that he doesn't take it from me. I'm already fully motivated. I am committed, doing absurd training to master it”, said the miner.

Shy Israel

In recent weeks, Israel's speeches about the Brazilian have reduced considerably. However, one of the champion's favorite lines is to criticize Borrachinha's physical form, always accusing the challenger of cheating in his preparations, even without proof. Paulo then joked about the situation, suggesting that he understands his opponent's 'fear'.

“When you look at a powerful, strong guy, your warning signals go off. You think, 'Man, I can't stay in front of him for long. If you get hit, it could all end. You need to be afraid,” he concluded.

Against Paulo, Israel will make its second title defense. Undefeated in MMA with 19 fights, the Nigerian is trying to stay on top and overcome the biggest challenge of his career to date.
