Known for the bold style with which he usually handles his challenges, Michael Pereira is more than ready for his showdown against Zelim Imadaev. This Saturday (5), 'Paraense Voador' returns to the octagon and hopes to end a series of two defeats with an imposing performance over the Russian. In an exclusive interview with SUPER FIGHTS, the welterweight spoke about expectations for the commitment and plans for the future.

With a remarkable debut in the organization in May last year, Michel caught the attention of the Brazilian public with the hard knockout he delivered over the experienced Danny Roberts. Subsequently, the Brazilian lost his next two fights (the last, in February, in a controversial result, against Diego Sanchez) and now intends to prove that he is back in top form.

Without feeling pressured, Pereira states that he doesn't usually watch his opponents' past fights in his preparations. The Brazilian, however, knows that his fighting style can guarantee a positive result, regardless of his rival.

“I'm not a big fan of watching my opponents' fights. I train to fight anyone, so a guy from wrestling, boxing, muay thai, jiu-jistu could show up and I'll be ready for him. I looked a little bit, yes, to see the style, the look, but nothing much,” he said.

Promise of great fight

The fact that he hasn't closely followed his next opponent's game doesn't negate the fact that Pereira is focused on leaving the Octagon with a triumph. Without focusing on a specific strategy, 'Paraense Voador' wants to take the confrontation according to the opponent's proposal.

“I'm a guy who dances to the music. If he wants to fight standing up, we'll fight standing up. If he wants to fight on the ground, let's go to the ground. Wherever he wants, I'm ready. It's going to be a great fight. I'm sure of that, because he's a good, versatile guy. So, fans have a lot to gain from watching this fight because it's going to be a great show. I'm prepared, he is too. We’re going to put on a great show for the UFC audience and the world,” he said.

Optimal outcome

In the last fight of his current contract with the UFC, Michel knows he needs to convince to renew with the organization. As far as the Brazilian is concerned, however, this will not be a problem. The man from Pará guarantees his focus on victory and wants even more.

“Performance and knockout of the night. I am very well prepared. I want to put on a show and knock him out. Wait for me and take note: I believe I will win two bonuses tonight”, he concluded.

At just 26 years old, Michel stands out for his experience in MMA. So far, there have been 36 appearances, with 23 wins, 11 losses and two fights without result.
