First challenger for the flyweight belt (up to 56,7kg.) Deiveson Figueiredo, cody garbrandt tested positive for Covid-19, but remains confirmed in the title fight against the Brazilian. The American was diagnosed with the disease at the beginning of the week, but is recovering well and is expected to play on the November 21st card. The information was released by 'Ag.Fight'.
Former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg.), Cody sought care after experiencing some symptoms characteristic of Covid-19, such as a headache. The fighter, however, is recovering well at home and is awaiting medical clearance to resume his training routine for his next challenge. While the North American recovers, training Deiveson Figueiredo continue at full steam. The flyweight leader has been recording his training and showing a lot of determination for his first title defense. Garbrandt got the challenger spot after a big win over the Brazilian Raphael Assunção, in June, at UFC 250, still in the rooster division. With the positive result, the North American then stated again that he would like to test himself in the lower category, for the title. The Ultimate board approved the idea and confirmed the fighter as the 'God of War' opponent. Figueiredo won the title after categorically beating the experienced Joseph Benavidez, in July, on 'Ilha da Luta'. On that occasion, the man from Pará put on a real show and managed to win by submission in the second round.
