Stipe Miocic isn't excited about fighting Francis Ngannou: 'I want a new challenge'

After praising his next opponent, the heavyweight champion states that the fight is not exciting, as he defeated the French-Cameroonian in the past

Although there is still no date for his next belt defense, Stipe Miocic He already knows who his opponent will be, but the idea doesn't excite the champion. After defeating Daniel Cormier and keep the title in UFC 252, the heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg.) made it clear that facing Francis Ngannou It wouldn't be your first choice.

“Francis is not exciting to me. I already showed you for 25 minutes how to defeat him. I want a new challenge. I would love to box,” the American wrote on his social media, answering a question from fans.

Miocic and Ngannou faced each other for the first time in January 2018, at UFC 220. On that occasion, the champion dominated the feared French-Cameroonian for five rounds and emerged victorious in the judges' unanimous decision.

More than two years later, Francis is now at another stage in his career. The giant managed to recover and comes from four devastating knockouts in his last appearances. Since the last positive result, in May, Ultimate's president, Dana White, guaranteed that the French-Cameroonian would fight for the belt next.

The heavyweight champion also responded about the possibility of facing Jon Jones in the future. Without showing much excitement, Miocic spoke about the situation.

“(Jones) has a great resume, but other guys worked hard to get where they needed to be. I don't schedule the fights, so I can't say anything. I fight. If I booked the fights, I wouldn't be fighting. I do what the UFC decides,” he concluded.
