The end of one of the most successful careers in MMA history is near, at least as far as UFC president Dana White is concerned. According to the 'boss', the fight against Uriah Hall, confirmed for October 31st, without an official location, will mark the farewell of Anderson Silva in mixed martial arts. The agent announced the information after the card last Saturday (22).

"Anderson Silva he still has two fights left on his contract, but we reached an agreement that this fight against Uriah Hall it will be his retirement fight. This is an important fight for both of them. Uriah wants to fight for the belt and, to Anderson Silva, retiring with a win would be incredible. His legacy is gigantic. Some of his struggles – against Vitor belfort (2011), the first against Chael Sonnen (2010), when he won by submission, and so many others – and everything he achieved. It's funny, when he got to the UFC and won Chris Leben (2006) – who was undefeated at that time, was confident and hit very hard – made it clear to everyone how good he was. Anderson Silva He had an incredible career here, and will be immortalized as one of the best of all time”, said White in an interview with 'Combate'.

As the 'boss' stated, 'Spider' still has two fights left on his contract, but the president's intention is for the 45-year-old Brazilian legend to retire after the fight against Hall. Therefore, a superfight, as suggested by Anderson in recent months, is, at first, ruled out.

“Superfights happen when you are the champion and you are going to fight another champion. The time for him to do super fights is over, there is no more he can do. What superfight do you imagine he could do? Do you understand what I say? Anderson Silva He is one of the greatest of all time, and he was the greatest middleweight champion. There are no more superfights for him to do”, he concluded.

Considered the best middleweight (up to 83,9kg) in UFC history, Anderson had a long reign in the organization. Champion of the category between 2006 and 2013, the Brazilian 'made it rain' in his prime, defeating opponents in forceful ways and presenting a fighting style rarely seen in the sport.

Silva's recent outlook, however, is not positive. The sporting legend has not won a triumph since February 2017, when he defeated Derek Brunson, at UFC 208. In his last 10 fights, 'Spider' has six setbacks, three positive results and one unsuccessful fight.
