After the end of his contract with the UFC, Fabricio Werdum could be in a 'new home' soon. One of the greatest legends in the history of MMA, Fedor Emelianenko admitted his desire to promote a rematch against the Brazilian, repeating the 2010 clash, when 'Vai Cavalo' submitted the Russian with a triangle choke in the first round.

“For me, yes (I would accept the challenge). I would like to fight him. On the other hand, I don't know if the fans are interested in watching or Bellator interested in promoting”, said Fedor, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

Upon learning of Emelianenko's intention, Bellator president Scott Coker did not hesitate and commented on the possibility of negotiating the duel. According to the 'big boss', there is a real chance that the deal will be sealed.

“I love Fabrício and it’s a decision that depends on Fedor. One of the things I'm going to talk to Fedor about is: 'is this an important fight for you?'. Depending on what he responds, we will make it happen. If it's an important fight for him, it will probably be done”, said Coker, before adding: 'If it's not important, it doesn't mean we won't go after Fabrício”, said the agent.

One issue, however, could prevent the confrontation from happening in the near future. According to Scott, it would be a waste to cast Fedor to perform in an arena without fans, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Fedor has to fight in front of the fans. I think that's why we don't see many MMA stars fighting, because they need the support of the public. With Fedor, it's the same way. He is the best heavyweight of all time. For me, it would be a shame if he had to perform in an arena with no one to watch the last fights of his career”, he concluded.

Currently, Emelianenko is 43 years old. The Russian, who has already competed in 46 fights as a professional in MMA - winning 39 -, plans, with Bellator, a 'farewell tour', so that he can retire from the sport.
