At 38 years old, his career Frankie Edgar is close to a fresh start. This Saturday (22), the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) will make his debut in the bantamweight division (up to 61,2kg) and, right away, he will have a challenge: Peter Munhoz. A veteran in the sport, the North American knows the dangers that will be faced, but suggested a perfect ending for the confrontation, which marks the main fight of the UFC Las Vegas 7.

“I think Pedro is saying he wants to strangle me, right? So if I could get a choke on him, that would be perfect. But, to be honest, a victory is a victory and I accept it any way I can,” said Edgar, in an interview with ‘Combate’.
The clash against Pedro will mark Frankie's 33rd appearance since his professional MMA debut. Even with a lot of experience, the athlete understands that it is necessary to reinvent himself to continue in the sport and shows expectations for the new phase in his career.
“It’s good (to change). It gives me a new canvas to paint my art on. I don't have to worry about the guys at lightweight (up to 70,3kg), I don't have to worry about the guys at featherweight (up to 65,5kg). Now, I have a whole new squad to face and think about.”, commented the North American.
Finally, Edgar was happy and motivated for a new debut. The athlete then stated that he has big dreams for the category that today is led by Petr yan.
“I think, based on what I've done in my career, I'm always in the discussion (for a title shot). I know there are a lot of guys who did what they needed to do to get a chance. So, if not after Pedro, maybe one more and we’ll see what happens”, he concluded.
