UFC 152: Belfort challenges Jones for light heavyweight belt this Saturday

After a long wait, the UFC returns to activities tonight with a Brazilian competing for the belt. The North American Jon Jones will put the light heavyweight belt on the line against the Brazilian Vitor belfort. The duel will be the main attraction of UFC 152, an event to be held in Toronto, Canada.

In addition to Belfort, the fight program features two more Brazilians in action: Charles of the Bronx face Cub swanson in the first fight on the main card. Vinny Pezão makes his debut in the organization against Croatian Igor Pokrajac.

Jones vs. Belfort
the american Jon Jones was scheduled to defend the light heavyweight belt against his compatriot Dan Henderson at UFC 151, on September 1st, but as Hendo suffered a knee injury with just a week to go before the event, only the controversial Chael Sonnen accepted the challenge. However, the champion refused to face Chael and the entire event was cancelled.

Thereby, Vitor belfort was asked to leave the fight against Alan belcher at UFC Rio to move up a division and face Jones for the light heavyweight belt. With the duel confirmed, even though the Brazilian is considered an underdog, he believes in the triumph and in regaining the title that he once owned in 2004.

“It will be 50 to 50. I respect the Jon Jones, I'm a fan of his, but I'm not afraid. It will be a great fight”, analyzed Belfort.
