In a farewell tone, Cormier speaks out after the battle at UFC 252: 'It was a great journey'

Former double Ultimate champion, North American uses social media to thank his fans, organization and congratulates Stipe Miocic on his victory

The battle between Stipe Miocic e Daniel Cormier last Saturday (15), at UFC 252, in Las Vegas (USA), may, in fact, have marked the end of the career of the former double Ultimate champion. After being defeated by the current heavyweight leader (up to 120,2 kg), DC released a farewell text in which he thanked his fans, the company and congratulated his rival on his triumph in the fight that ended the trilogy between them.

“Thank you for all the love and support. It wasn't what we wanted or expected, but that's how it is. Congratulations to Stipe Miocic for a fantastic fight. It was an honor and a pleasure to share the Octagon with you for 50 minutes. Man, we put on a show every time. To my team, I love you to death. You made many sacrifices. I hope I made you proud”, wrote the athlete.

After also thanking his family, Daniel did not forget those who followed his work or the Ultimate board, where the fighter will go down as one of the greatest in history.

“To my fans, I love you. You pushed me to be the best. To Dana White and the UFC, I loved you all the time. Thanks for the opportunity. It was an incredible journey, huh?”, he concluded.

At 41 years old, Daniel leaves the sport with 26 professional appearances in mixed martial arts. Former light heavyweight and heavyweight champion, DC ends his career with 22 wins, three defeats and one unsuccessful fight.
