Sean O'Malley compares himself to McGregor and reveals his dream of facing the 'Notorious': 'I could win'

Candidate for new UFC phenomenon, North American points out similarities with the Irish MMA legend

Candidate for new UFC phenomenon, Sean O'Malley He has been captivating fans' eyes since his debut in the organization in 2017. Charismatic, controversial, aggressive and very technical, the bantamweight's characteristics (up to 61,2kg) didn't take long to become successful. Undefeated in his career, the North American compared his style to that of Conor McGregor and revealed his dream of exchanging forces with the Irishman in the future.

“We are similar in fighting style. We knock people out in the first round, we're not afraid to give our predictions on the fight. We are explosive strikers. I see similarities there”, said the athlete, in an interview with 'ESPN'.

Undefeated in 12 appearances as a professional in MMA, the 25-year-old now represents the bantamweight division, which is currently led by Petr yan. Sean, however, did not hide his dream of one day being able to fight against the Irishman, who is considered one of the greatest phenomena in the history of MMA.

“I would probably face Conor. I think the fans would like that. It would be an exciting fight. It's a fight I think I could win. It would be the fight of dreams”, he concluded.

Although he is two divisions below the category in which McGregor currently performs, Sean's dream may not be impossible. At 1m80cm, the young man surpasses the Irishman in height and, for the confrontation, it would be a matter of gaining muscle mass and adapting to a new weight limit.

O'Malley, who last performed in June, has a new commitment this Saturday (15), when he faces Marlon Vera in the co-main event of UFC 252. Conor has not performed since January this year, when he resumed his career after more than a year away from the octagon.

PUBLICITY:

Recently, McGregor announced his retirement from the sport, but, after the declaration, he has already accepted challenges in both MMA and boxing. Ultimate's president, Dana White, thinks it's difficult for the 'Notorious' to return to the sport in 2020.
