UFC fighter reports drama after spending a week in ICU: 'I almost died'

UFC welterweight representative (up to 77kg.), Geoff neal He experienced a real drama when he was admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of a hospital in the United States for a week. The athlete used his social networks to narrate the episode to his fans and explain the fact, which resulted in the cancellation of his fight against Neil Magny, initially scheduled for the 29th.

“The last few weeks have been crazy, and that’s putting it mildly. It's very difficult trying to find an eloquent way to say 'I almost died'. But screw it. I almost died. It really put a lot of things into perspective for me. I never thought I would be hooked up to a dialysis machine until I was in my 30s. Everything was going well for me. I was training every day, earning money at work, I just signed a contract for a big fight, then: 'BOOM'. Life hit me with a hook. I'm so happy to be home after spending a week in the ICU. Stay healthy and listen to your body at all times”, wrote the American on his Instagram account.

According to the athlete's manager, Sayif Saud, Neal was taken to the hospital after feeling weak, unwell and having a fever. The fighter underwent a test for Covid-19, however, the test did not confirm the disease. There are still no concrete explanations for the fighter's condition. Geoff, however, has already left the hospital and is finishing his recovery at home.

At 29 years old, Neal is considered one of the promises for the division led by Kamaru Usman. Undefeated since his debut in Ultimate, in February 2018, the fighter has five positive results in a row. The last one, in December last year, when he defeated Mike Perry by knockout UFC 245.
