With confident performance, Vicente Luque defeats Randy Brown by knockout at UFC Las Vegas 5

Brazilian asserts favoritism and beats Jamaican in the second round in one of the most anticipated fights of the night

In the confrontation against Randy Brown, held this Saturday (1), by UFC Las Vegas 5, in the United States, Vincent Luque He asserted favoritism and gave his opponent no chance in one of the most anticipated fights of the night. The Brazilian needed two rounds to achieve a tough knockout and win his second consecutive victory in the organization.

In the confrontation against Brown, Luque took the risk of facing a dangerous opponent who does not appear in the welterweight rankings (up to 77kg.). Considered one of the great Brazilian promises in the category, Vicente, however, took no notice of the Jamaican, who was coming off a victory over Warlley alves.

This was the 11th knockout in the career of the Brasilia native, who has 19 victories in his record as a professional in MMA. Currently, Luque is 11th in the group led by Kamaru Usman.

The fight

The confrontation began with the athletes exchanging low kicks in the center of the octagon. With a greater wingspan, Brown found it easier to touch the Brazilian. Vicente tried to close the distance with jabs and kicks. Halfway through the round, Vicente connected with a cross to the Jamaican's face and even rocked his rival. After three minutes, Luque connected with a good right that knocked Randy down. The Brazilian went forward, but allowed his opponent to get up. Luque remained focused on destabilizing his opponent with low kicks. In the final minute, Brown responded to the attacks with a series of punches, but was surprised by a cross, leaving him unbalanced. In the final seconds, the athletes studied each other until the timer reached zero.

The second round was stopped at the beginning after a kick to the genital region delivered by Vicente. The fight returned with the combatants exchanging punches and kicks in the center of the octagon. Luque managed to knock his opponent down with a low kick, but, again, he allowed his rival to get up. The Brazilian continued walking forward and tried to put pressure on his opponent. Luque once again knocked the Jamaican off balance with a low kick. Randy responded with a sequence of two knees that stopped in Vicente's guard. At the end of the round, a spinning elbow opened a cut on the Brazilian's face, but the advantage remained with Luque. With a minute left to end the stage, Brown managed a takedown, but Luque got up easily. With 10 seconds remaining, Vicente connected with a well-aimed knee to Randy's head, which made him collapse. The Brazilian was left to settle the bill with a series of punches.
