Strikeforce President explains why Jacaré was passed over for the title fight

The Brazilian Ronaldo Jacare was the most likely to fight for the Strikeforce middleweight belt against the champion Luke Rockhold. But to the surprise of many, the organization surprised and announced Lorenz Larkin as the next challenger.

After receiving several criticisms for his choice, the president of the event, Scott Coker, explained why he passed over the Brazilian athlete and chose Larkin as a candidate for the title.

“If you look at Lorenz Larkin's record when he was fighting at light heavyweight, he only had one loss to King mo, who tested positive for doping, changing the fight later to “No Contest” (no result), so he has an undefeated record”. said the leader.

“He put in a very impressive performance against Robbie (Lawler). When we talked about Jacaré facing Rockhold (after the fight), I hadn't had the chance to talk to Sean yet and find out what he was thinking”, added Coker, in an interview with the North American website MMA Junkie.

According to the agent, Jacaré is next in line and will be able to avenge his defeat to Rockhold, which happened in September last year, by unanimous decision.

“I know Sean is in contact with the Jacaré team. The issue really is that we have a few things going on. Sean is signing more athletes every day and is looking for the best fighters to come in and compete with the guys we have. Although Jacaré, in my mind, after Lorenz now, he will be next in line to fight for the belt,” he concluded.
