As the days pass, the moment approaches when the former heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg) of Ultimate, Fabricio Werdum, will hold the last fight of his contract with the organization. This Saturday (25), in Abu Dhabi, the Brazilian will exchange forces against Alexander Gustafson and promises a better performance than his performance in May, which marked his return to the Octagon after two years away.

“I'm sure yes (it will perform better). Due to the fact that I didn't train as I should have the other time (against alexey oleynik), due to the coronavirus, now I was able to do all my training that I had planned. Do sparing, training in muay thai and jiu-jitsu. Everything we wanted, I did and I'm happy for that”, said the Brazilian, in a press conference on 'Media Day' for the UFC Fight Island 3.
Coming from a unanimous decision defeat by the judges, Fabrício will be committed to giving a 'welcome' to Alexander, who will make his debut in the under-120kg category this weekend. Asked why he accepted the challenge against the former challenger for the light heavyweight title (under 93kg), Werdum explained, valuing his rival's history in the organization.
“I had a few options. When I saw his name, I really liked it. Because it was the last fight in the UFC, I believe it had to be an important fight and not a guy just starting out. I chose him to have a good fight, because I think our match matches. People want to see a fight like this,” he concluded.
Having just turned 43, Fabrício will reach the mark of 34 appearances since his debut in professional MMA, in June 2002. In total, the gaucho has 23 wins, nine losses and one draw.
