One of the eight Brazilian representatives for the UFC Fight Island 3, which takes place this Saturday (25), in Abu Dhabi, Alex Cowboy has reasons to smile. Coming off a victory and in a new phase of his career, the athlete is back in the octagon and hopes for a big victory over Peter sobotta on the weekend. In an exclusive interview with the YouTube channel do SUPER FIGHTS, Alex opened up about his troubled past, sent a message to younger people and spoke about the challenge against the German.

Known for his aggressive and irreverent style, Cowboy has attracted Brazilian fans since his debut for the organization in March 2015. With a reputation as a knockout artist, it didn't take long for Alex to fall in favor with the fans and the organization's management.
This Saturday, the Brazilian will have his 17th UFC fight. With 32 performances under his belt, the athlete continues to entertain spectators with an impressive performance.
Duel against Sobotta
Responsible for dictating the pace of the event in the second fight on the main card, Alex will be committed to sealing Peter's second consecutive defeat in Ultimate. Coming from victory over Max griffinIn March, the fighter from Três Rios (RJ) promised a show for the fans.
“I hope you are well trained, because I am. I'm coming to win and put on a show. My hand is too heavy. My hand is compared to that of a heavyweight. So, I hope that when I kick him, he will go out, without a doubt,” said Cowboy.
From the risk of dismissal to redemption
Anyone who sees the Brazilian exuding confidence for this weekend's clash would not imagine that the fighter had a hard time a few months ago, when he was coming off three consecutive defeats within the organization. Before the confrontation against Griffin, the fighter stated that he feared dismissal due to the sequence of negative results.
“I feared (about being fired). It was a dream that was going down the drain. All fighters who have a career like this are afraid that at one point they will fall and never rise again. I passed these and, thank God, I climbed again. I’m climbing slowly”, revealed the Cowboy.
Troubled past
Alex's bad phase began in December 2018, when he ended up losing to Gunnar Nelson and then the fighter ended up defeated by Mike Perry e Nicholas Dalby, both in 2019. After recovering, the fighter opened his heart and confirmed that external factors directly influenced his performances inside the octagon.
“We let ourselves be carried away by fame, false friends, colleagues, and all the bullshit, because everything comes easy... women... and it does. I was failing to train sometimes. Stopping working out, losing a night's sleep. I was leaving my professional life aside and living a criminal life. I wasn’t doing any good”, explained the welterweight.
Advice for younger people
Recovered and ready for a new trajectory within the UFC, Cowboy then left some advice for new fighters who dream of one day becoming a professional in Ultimate. In a serious and sincere tone, the Brazilian sent a message to the young athletes.
“Getting here is not easy. But when it arrives, you have to have faith and take it seriously. It's no joke. How many fighters wanted to be in my place today? How many wanted to arrive? If you have the opportunity to join the UFC or any event that gives you a better life, take it seriously. There are many people who want to be in your place. Those jealous, kiss-ass people, the fake friends who come to your house to drink, get out. Listen more to your mother and father and your coach”, he concluded.
