The Brazilian Taila Santos achieved his first victory in Ultimate this Wednesday (15). On the main card of UFC Ilha da Luta da 1, in Abu Dhabi, the Santa Catarina native dominated the Englishwoman Molly McCann during the three rounds and won the fight via unanimous decision by the judges (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

With the result, Taila recovers from the defeat in his UFC debut, against Mara Romero Borella. In her record, the Brazilian has 16 victories and only one setback. On the other hand, McCann has his streak of three consecutive victories ended in Ultimate. In her record, the Englishwoman has 10 wins and three losses.
“At my debut, I was very nervous, I was very impacted by the magnitude of the event, I didn't let go and I didn't give even 10% of what I am. But today I was focused and much more focused on my victory. This fight gives me a lot of confidence. Molly is a tough girl, she always comes up, well placed in the rankings, I am very happy with this victory”, said Taila after the triumph, in the official interview.
The fight
The fight started with McCann closing the distance and working with hard crosses. The Brazilian, however, soon made her reach count. Taila worked leg kicks and stomps, keeping her rival at bay and undermining her movement. Little by little, the Santa Catarina native loosened up her game and with two falls, she ended the first round on top on the ground.
In the second round, McCann came back ready to close the distance and look for the takedown. Taila again proved to be stronger and dominated the clinch, landing good knees and landing good takedowns. The Brazilian got to mount the Englishwoman and risked the submission with a choke, but she quickly got out of position.
Confident in the fight, Taila continued to control the distance. McCann, in turn, attacked anyway in search of a turnaround. Halfway through the partial, the Tupiniquim athlete attacked and fell. She reached mount, switched to her back, returned to mount and ended the duel by hammering the British woman in the face.
