Defeated by points in a confrontation with broad domination by his opponent, the North American was very critical of his performance in the press conference after the show.

“I want to take my frustrations and take my fitness to another level. I know I can do more. I know a lot of people say that I could use the six days notice as an excuse, but there's no excuse. You shouldn't sign the contract if you're not in a position to fight for the world title. I should have performed better, but it’s a matter of time before I return,” he concluded.
With the setback for Usman, in addition to losing the chance to become the category champion, Masvidal's three-fight winning streak ended. Currently, the athlete is in third place in the category ranking, behind only Gilbert Durinho, Colby covington and, of course, Kamaru.
