Without fighting since the defeat to Kamaru Usman, suffered in December last year, Colby covington appears to have a new target for his return to the octagon. The former interim welterweight champion (up to 77kg) sent a message to UFC president, Dana White, and asked for a fight against Jorge masvidal, his former friend and former training partner.

“I know Dana is in a feud with the 'Street Jesus,' Masvidal, right now. Dana, you know who to call. I'm going to put an end to 'Jesus of the Streets'. I'm sending that guy to the morgue. He will never fight again,” said Colby in an interview with 'BJPenn.com.
The North American then took the opportunity to provoke his former American Top Team (ATT) teammate, mocking Jorge's achievement on Nate diaz, in November last year, and which earned him a symbolic belt within the company.
“He won the 'Toughest' belt, but that's not even a real title. It's a participation trophy. At the moment, he has the title of 'Saddest Son of a Bitch', or 'Most Scared Son of a Bitch'. He doesn’t have money problems, he has fear problems,” said Covington.
Masvidal hasn't stepped into the Octagon since his victory over Nate in the UFC 244. The athlete was a clear favorite to face Kamaru Usman in the dispute for the linear belt of the division. The confrontation, however, never became official, as Jorge demanded better payment so that he could perform in Ultimate.
