“Now, all the attention is on Nina (Ansaroff, the Brazilian’s partner). It was all for me, with her pregnant, and there, with me. I need some time. We need to organize things at home. There's nothing ready. I'll probably only (return) next year”, declared the 'Lioness'.
Even with the intention of putting her life as an athlete on the back burner for a while, Nunes knows she will return to the Octagon to defend her belts in the future. The athlete, however, doesn't know who her next opponent could be, as she has been defeating the organization's best athletes in her fights.
“I'm not thinking about that right now. I have to rest a little. We see further ahead. (Soon) a name will appear. There are a lot of people there”, said the Bahian.
The 'Lioness' also took advantage of the interview to praise her latest opponent, Felicia spencer, who survived five rounds and, despite leaving his face deformed in the confrontation, withstood the hard blows applied by the Pojucana. The Brazilian also said she did not regret that the confrontation did not end with a knockout or submission.
“I knew that Felica was a very tough athlete. I said all week: 'Don't think this girl is weak, no'. She tried it today. I needed five rounds. Several times when I put her down I could have entered and finished the fight. Fans like that. Fans like to see action.
The positive result against the Canadian marked the 20th victory in the Brazilian's professional MMA career. Amanda hasn't known what it's like to lose for almost six years.
