According to Jorge “Joinha” Guimarães, Anderson's manager, the fight against Weidman doesn't make sense for the Brazilian. Furthermore, he cites the North American's inexperience as one of the predominant factors in rejecting the confrontation.
“They (UFC) kind of… mentioned it (fight against Weidman). But we don't think it makes sense. Weidman has nine fights, all impressive, but it's half of what Anderson has. I don't think it's enough. But that's up to the organization, to say who is a good opponent for Anderson. I just think it would be difficult to promote,” Joinha told the website MMA fighting.

The businessman also reaffirmed his desire for a super fight against Canadian Georges St-Pierre, champion of the organization's welterweight division. Joinha also stated that the duel against GSP would be at a combined weight of between 84kg, the limit for the middleweight division, and 77kg, for the welterweight category.
“I think a combined weight would be best. Anderson cannot fight at '170 pounds' (77 kg.), but perhaps at '180 pounds' (81,6kg). I think he would be able to make that weight”, said Guimarães, who set the scheduled date for his return.
“Probably not (fighting again this year). Maybe early next year. Let’s see what happens between GSP (Georges St-Pierre) and Condit”, he concluded.
