Dominick Reyes talks about Jones’ threat to abandon belt: ‘Disappointed’

Dominick reyes he may be one step away from competing again for the UFC light heavyweight (up to 93kg) belt. After a public feud between the defending division champion, Jon Jones, and the company's board of directors, 'Bones' threatened to abandon the title, which would open up the possibility of the young athlete playing in the dream position. Reyes, however, regretted his former rival's decision on his Twitter account.

Reyes and Jon headlined the UFC 247, held in February this year. At the time, the young and undefeated athlete had the tough role of dethroning someone who is considered, by many, to be the best athlete in the history of MMA. For five rounds, the light heavyweights put on a real battle and, in the end, ‘Bones’ was declared the winner in a decision that was highly contested by some fans and the specialized press.

Since then, Ultimate has been studying what would be the best challenge for Jon's new commitment. While the UFC president publicly said that the champion should give Dominick an immediate rematch or even face the next in line, Jan Blachowicz, number one proposed an unusual challenge to the heavyweight giant (up to 120,2kg.), Francis Ngannou.

The problems began when the company's management ruled out the superfight and stated that the values requested by 'Bones' were unrealistic. The information was given by White himself.

Upon learning of the ‘big boss’ statement, Jones became angry and, from then on, a ‘war of truths’ began between the boss and the light heavyweight champion.
