Even without holding a UFC belt for over two years, Conor McGregor remains one of the main names in the organization. The athlete, who made his return to the sport at the beginning of this year, however, is without an opponent for his next appearance. Thinking about the future of his star, the company's president, Dana White, said he was not negotiating a confrontation for the Irishman and gave advice on the 'Notorious' actions for the future.

“Conor and I didn’t get to talk about fighting. If you're Conor and you're sitting at home, with everyone challenging you, in every category, who will be next? I am waiting Daniel Cormier challenge him. He has a strong personality and will answer you,” White said in an interview with 'ESPN'.

The latest attack on McGregor came from an old acquaintance in the world of MMA. The legendary Anderson Silva, who recently turned 45, joined the list of fighters who challenged the 'Notorious'. Dana, however, gave advice to the former featherweight (up to 65,7kg) and lightweight (up to 70,3kg) champion about the next steps in his career.

“I think what Conor needs to do is sit back and wait for the fights that are scheduled to happen. Obviously, the most important division is the lightweight division. Let's see how things go”, suggested the 'boss'.

McGregor made history by winning the lightweight belt in 2016, when he took the title from Eddie Alvares. The Irishman, however, never managed to defend his title as champion, being removed from the position due to inactivity. The fighter tried to regain the crown in October 2018, but ended up beaten by Khabib Nurmagomedov in the most watched fight in MMA history.

After the setback, Conor stepped away from the sport for a year, only returning in January of this year. In the confrontation, the fighter faced Donald Cerrone in the up to 77kg division. Heavier, the 'Notório' put on a real show by knocking out his rival in less than a minute.

The good performance among the welterweights earned the Irishman a recent invitation to play against the current champion of the division, Kamaru Usman. The challenge was made by the belt holder himself. The UFC board, however, does not look favorably on the challenge at the moment.
